About the author:

Tejvan organises short-distance running and cycling races for the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team in his home city of Oxford. He is also a very good cyclist, having won the National hill climb championships in 2013 and finished 3rd in the National 100 Mile Time Trials in 2014.

In June 2026 members of Sri Chinmoy Centre cycled together 98'864 km in 33 countries on 6 continents. Total number of participants was 249. Overall winner was Gabor Szenczi from Budapest, Hungary. Gabor cycled 5'008 km. This is the third best result on the Month of Cycling since its beginning in 2015! Agnikana Senkyrova from Zlin, Czech Republic, was the best female with total of 3'186 km.

Monaco di Baviera Classic Challenge

From June 20 to June 25, Igor participated in the Monaco di Baviera Classic Challenge. He cycled 1'600 km over Alps and Dolomites with 31'000 m elevation gain and finished on 11. place from around 90 participants. Here is what his days on the race looked like:

Day 1: 369 km, 6'605 m elevation gain, 16h 49min cycling
Day 2: 311 km, 5'776 m elevation gain, 18h 00min cycling
Day 3: 234 km, 6'195 m elevation gain, 16h 16min cycling

Cycle Ride Around Wales - A Pilgrimage visiting the 7 Peace Statues

Rasmirvan Collinson from Bristol spent 12 days cycling around Wales covering nearly 700 miles and climbing in excess of 36,000 feet - Wales is rather undulating to say the least. The bicycle ride was also an opportunity to visit the seven statues of Sri Chinmoy which are located in different parts of Wales.

Tejvan Pettinger of Sri Chinmoy Cycling Team continued his good run of form, taking 3 hill climb victories in his past four races.

First up was the Holme Valley Wheelers event. The event was scheduled to be up Holme Moss, which will feature in next years Tour de France. But, mist at the top forced the climb to be rescheduled to the shorter Woodhead climb near Holmfirth. Tejvan finished 2nd in a time of 2.12 behind Tour of Britain rider Richard Handley (Rapha CC) (2.06)

In the afternoon, Tejvan was in action on Jackson Bridge, in the Huddersfield Star Wheelers event. The event has considerable history and is run as the - Granville Sydney (six times national champion) memorial event. Tejvan came first in a time of 4.18 - one of the quickest times for a few years.

The next day was a trip to Mow Cop - the iconic 1 mile 'killer mile' with a finish gradient of 25%. Despite rain, Tejvan narrowly set a new course record of 4.22 - taking 2 seconds off Matt Clinton's previous time.

On October 20th, Tejvan entered his last hill climb before the national Championship- Beeley Moor, organised by Chesterfield Coureurs. He finished 1st in a time of 8.35 - the 2nd quickest time up the 2 mile hill.

This year's National Hill climb championship will be held 27th October on the Stang hill climb in North Yorkshire. Tejvan is riding number 174 at 14.54.

More course records fell for Sri Chinmoy Cycling Team rider, Tejvan Pettinger in recent hill climb races.

On Sat 28th September, Pettinger won the John Bornoft Hill climb promoted by Kingston Wheelers. Pettinger finished in 1st place, shaving 0.7 seconds off his own course record to set a new time of 3.33.1 - 17 seconds in front of second place Pete Tadros.

Also riding for Sri Chinmoy CT, Aryavan Lanham finished in 46th place with a time of 6.09.

The next day, the Sri Chinmoy CT duo travelled to Porlock for the inaugural Minehead CC Porlock Road hill climb. Pettinger again finished 1st place, averaging 18mph up the four mile climb to finish in a time of 13.24 - over 1 minute ahead of second place Charles Coleman of VC Walcott. Aryavan Lanham finished in 63rd place in a time of 21.56

On Saturday the 5th of October. Pettinger continued his good run of form to take the Otley CC two stage hill climb. Setting another course record on the first climb of the day up Guise Edge.

Finally, on Sunday the 6th October, Pettinger made it four wins in eight days by squeezing in front of Rapha Condor JLT pro Richard Handley to win the prestigious Fibrax Wrexham RC hill climb up the horseshoe pass in North Wales. Pettinger's time of 9.15 was 12 seconds off the course record and 6 seconds in front of Handley.

Tejvan Pettinger of Sri Chinmoy Cycling Team has got off to a flying start to the hill climb season, winning his first three races and setting two new course records in the process.

In the first hill climb of the season on Snake Pass, Tejvan set a new course record of 11.36 for the 3 mile hill at 7% gradient. Team Raleigh professional Graham Briggs was 2nd in 11.48

The next weekend was the Buxton CC 4.44 mile event at Long Hill. A headwind reduced times, but Tejvan won in a time of 13.13. 2nd place was Adam Kenway of Team Zenith in 13.41

On September 22nd, Tejvan won the Weaver Valley CC event on the Cat & Fiddle. He broke Mark Lovatt's 9 year old course record of 18.30 with a new time of 18.16. The record involved riding at an average speed of 22mph for the 6 mile climb, averaging 3%.

This weekend, Tejvan has entered two hill climbs in the south of England with fellow Sri Chinmoy CT rider Aryavan Lanham.

In the past week, Tejvan Pettinger, Sri Chinmoy CT, set two new club records at 10 miles (19:02) and 50 miles (1:41:12)

The first club record was set in the Burton and District Cycling Association 50 mile TT on the fast Etwall course. Good conditions saw Pettinger set a time of 1.41.12. (av. speed 29.8mph) He might have crept under 1.40, but unfortunately, he took a wrong turning with 10 miles to go.

The next weekend, the inform Pettinger, set a time of 19.02 (av. 31.5mph) in the Bridlington CC 10 mile time trial near Hull. This shaved 5 seconds off his previous best. Pettinger finished 3rd - behind National 10 champion (and Competition record holder), M.Hutchinson who won in 18.24.

The following day, Pettinger won the Oxonian 50 mile TT near Oxford, in a time of 1:48:51

Tejvan Pettinger, riding for Sri Chinmoy Cycling Team, finished 5th overall in the UK National 100 mile time trial championship in a personal best time of 3.46.21. The event was held in the Lake District between Keswick and Cockermouth.

It has been a good run of form for Tejvan. Last weekend, he won the 13 mile TT, organised by Clifton CC on Sat. The next day, in the Yorkshire Cycling Federation 50, he finished 2nd and set a new club record of 1.45.56 for 50 miles.

In the UK national 50 mile time trial championships, Tejvan Pettinger of Sri Chinmoy Cycling Team finished 9th, in a time of 1.49.43.

The event was held near Abergavenny, Wales. A strong westerly wind, made it a hard day for all riders on the two lap course. Tejvan is perhaps more suited to shorter hilly races, but set a good time for the difficult conditions. The time 1.49.43 was 8 seconds off a pb, and just quick enough to squeeze into the top 10.

The event was won by Matthew Bottrill (www drag2zero.com) who earlier in the week, finished 2nd to several pro riders in the British time trial championship. Julia Shaw won the womens event the previous day.

Tejvan Pettinger of Sri Chinmoy Cycling Team took two first places in the space of 7 days. In the first event, Tejvan won the Farnham R.C 10 mile time trial in Bentley with a time of 20.21. He won by a margin of just one second over Nick Dwyer of Lewes Wanderers. In the Women's event, Olympic gold medallist Joanna Rowsell was down to ride, though didn't finish because of a mechanical problem.

The following week, June 1st, Tejvan won the Gloucester City CC 25 mile time trial near Cirencester. Pettinger completed the 25 miles in 51.20 -pushing Jon Wynn of Northover RT into second place by 12 seconds.

The following morning Tejvan was also down for the Oxford City RC 10 mile TT, but still recovering from previous evening's ride, finished in 5th place, with a time of 20.57.

Upcoming events for Tejvan include the national 50 mile TT in a couple of weeks.

In road racing, Vilas Silverton completed the Banbury Star 3/4 road race in 65th place.

In one of the early season classic time trials of the year, the Buxton MTT, Tejvan Pettinger, Sri Chinmoy Cycling Team finished in 1st place, just one minute outside the course record set by S.Dangerfield in 2003.

The event was originall scheduled for Good Friday, but bad weather meant it was put back to May. Fortunately, this time good weather greeted the riders and the warm weather helped create fast times.

Firstly, thanks to the timekeepers, Mark Scanlon (Newbury R.C.) and Mark Jones (Oxford City), and to the marshalls and helpers from Sri Chinmoy CT.

Thanks also to the weather gods, who gave us a nice decent day (it was looking a bit dicey when I checked forecast on Friday morning.)

Congratulations to the overall winner, Nick English (AW Cycles.co.uk) for a 30mph+ ride. (19.54). It shows the course can be rewarding course on a good day. Nick was pushed close by Pete Tadros (20.05) (In-Gear Quickvit Trainsharp RT) Pete, a good hill climber, was quickest to the top of the long drag at the turn (11.32) but Nick caught up on the return leg. Third place with Justyn Cannon (RAF CC) in 20.22, who had slow puncture on the way back. Danny Axford and Simon Harradine also managed sub 21 minute rides. Fastest lady was Gillian Reynolds (Willesden CC) in 25.37 with Katie King 2nd (Zappi Cycling Club) in 26.56.

Vets on Standards was won by Pete Tadros + 6.02, with Richard Howes (Coventry Road club) 2nd +5.18) and Jim Mcloughlin third (+5.02).

First junior was Gregory Holmes Hillingdon CC in a promising time of 25.03

Peter Oliver and Mark Cox were the fastest tandem, recording 7.51 seconds back from the turn! Geoff Booker was the fastest trike at 26.02.

Finally, the team winner were deservedly Oxonian CC, with James Hunt, Gavin Tilson and Jeff King being the fastest team of three.

After returning from Iceland in June last year, Vilas Silverton, (Sri Chinmoy Cycling Team) started the Western League Cyclo Cross races a few months later - somewhat short on race fitness but with a hopeful optimism regarding racing a bike again.

Results were encouraging. In the veterans category he was consistently in the top three locally and generally in the top ten overall. Season highlights were some good rides locally and being able to represent Sri Chinmoy CT in some national events, such as the Inter Area Championships at Milton Keynes, and the National Championships at Peel Park in Bradford in January 2013.

In Bradford, with temperatures hardly above freezing and a biting wind, it was necessary to keep core temperatures as well as spirits up! In the event, Vilas finished around the middle of the pack of over 120 riders, 37th in his age group and the best of the Western Division entrants, which was a season’s first.

Goals for the forthcoming season are targeted specifically at improving threshold power for the duration of an hour long event (such as a typical cyclo cross race) in combination with maintaining a low weight to see what progress is possible in the physical over 45.

Tejvan Pettinger, Sri Chinmoy Cycling Team, got the season off to a good start with first place in the Banbury Star hardriders 23 mile classic time trial on the 3rd March.

Despite near freezing conditions, Tejvan completed the hilly 23 miles in a time of 53.31, which was good enough to take the win, 40 seconds ahead of Danny Axford (Arctic Shorter Rochford)

In other early season races, Tejvan managed three second places in:

17th Feb. Frome & District 10 mile TT - 2nd place in a time of 21.36

10th March - Maidenhead & District 30 mile TT 2nd place in 1.10.49

In his most recent race, 17th March, Tejvan again finished second in the A5 Rangers 31 Mile hilly time trial. Finishing in 1.12.21 - 2 minutes behind current national 100 mile TT champion Matt Bottrill.

Our first 2013 event happened in sunny Brasil. Photo and short report from Adriano Passini (Sao Paulo):

On February 11th we organized a Sports Day in São José dos Campos. Among other disciplines, we had a 7-hour cycling relay during which we did total of 730 km.

Since we had only eight bicycles and fourteen cyclists, those waiting for their next turn on a bicycle were competing in other sports. Later they switched to throwing frisbee, kicking footbal and cheering up the cyclists.

The day was perfect for sports, we really enjoyed this quality time together and everybody had a great fun.

Despite losing a few weeks to a blood clot in April and May, Tejvan Pettinger, Sri Chinmoy CT won 16 races in 2012, and finished 2nd in six races.

Highlights included five new course records on longer hill climbs, and a new club record of 19.07 for a ten mile time trial (average speed 31.4mph)

In the national hill climb championship, Tejvan finished 13th on a short hill that doesn't suit his strengths.

Tejvan Pettinger, Sri Chinmoy Cycling Team, has continued his winning run during the British hill climb season, setting a couple of new course records in the process.

Results so far 2012

September 2nd - 1st place and new course record of 11.41 for Snake Pass, a 4 mile climb in the Pennines.
September 9th - 1st place for Long Hill, Buxton CC.
September 15th - 1st place in Swindon R.C. two stage hill climb, including new course record (8.32) for first climb.
September 23rd - 1st Place (21.02) for the 6.66 mile Cat & Fiddle hill climb in the Peak District, Weaver Valley CC.
September 30th - 2nd place for Streatley hill climb, Reading CC.
October 6th. 1st place on two Stage Otley CC hill climb, including a new course record of 3.24.1 on Guise Edge hill.
October 7th: 1st place and a new course record of 6.57 for Jubilee Tower, a 1.85 mile climb organised by Lancaster CC.

Tejvan Pettinger of Sri Chinmoy Cycling Team, set a new club record for 10 miles - completing the distance in a time of 19.07. It is an average speed of 31.5mph (50.7 km/h)

The time was set on the fast V718 course near Hull. The winners time, Jeff Jones was 18.25

In 2006, Bradley Wiggins held the 10 mile Time trial Record in a time of 17.58.

The current record is held by Irish national TT champion, Michael Hutchinson in a time of 17.57.

After coming back from recent injury, Tejvan Pettinger of Sri Chinmoy Cycling Team won the recent Chris Hart Memorial 10 mile Time Trial.

The Chris Hart Memorial 10 Mile Time Trial was held on 17/06/2012 at Knowl Hill A4, near Reading. Tejvan clocked 21.07 to win the event by 26 seconds from Geoff Powell of High Wycome CC.

This weekend 22nd and 23rd June, Tejvan finished 2nd in two different races.

On Saturday he finished 2nd in the Newbury RC 10 mile TT in a time of 20.29
On Sunday he finished 2nd in the Hinckley CRC 25 mile TT in a time of 55.29

Tejvan Pettinger of Sri Chinmoy Cycling Team has won two early season races as he makes a good start to the 2012 season. In his first two races, he finished second - before setting a new course record to win the early season Oxonian CC 31 mile time trial (1.11.51). On March 31st he finished 1st in the Otley CC 10 mile time trial.

The following day (April 1st) he rode in the prestigous Circuit of the Dales (50 miles), Tejvan set a good time of 1.59.09 to finish 4th overall at his first attempt. The hilly course, in the Yorkshire Dales includes over 1,000 metres of climbing.
