Five members of Sri Chinmoy Cycling Team entered the Bristol South CC hill climb on Burrington Come, just outside Bristol. Many were riding their first open hill climb, though hill climb regular Tejvan Pettinger was riding the Bristol South hill climb for the eighth time.

The 2.2 mile hill climb averages six percent and is set in the beautiful Mendips.

Former National hill climb champion, Tejvan won the event in a time of 6.58 - seven seconds off his own course record, set in 2011.

Next week is the national hill climb championship at Jackson Bridge in Yorkshire.

With the British hill climb season in full swing, Tejvan Pettinger of Sri Chinmoy Cycling Team, took two wins in two days on the weekend of Sep 26-27.

On Saturday, Tejvan was racing in a new hill climb (Aston Hill) promoted by Watford Velo in the Chilterns. In the first race on this hill, Tejvan rode the 1.2 mile course in 5.03, to take first place.

The next day was another hill climb organised by Newbury RC on Walbury Hill. With generous sponsorship, there was close to 80 riders racing on a closed road.

Tejvan was the only rider under 4 minutes, finishing in a time of 3.59 - 16 seconds ahead of second place Joe Norledge (Procycling magazine)

Tejvan Pettinger of Sri Chinmoy Cycling Team took a narrow first place in the 2015 edition of Tanks Direct Porlock Hill climb. Tejvan was run very close by 2014 National Champion Dan Evan (Team Elite) who was just 3 seconds adrift in second place. Tejvan has now won the first three editions of this race.

Tejvan set a time of 14.45 for the 4 mile hill climb (averaging 5.5% - av. speed 17.1mph). It was slower than the previous course record of 14.11 set in 2014.

Two weeks ago, in the Buxton CC hill climb on Long Hill, Tejvan finished 2nd - just 6 seconds behind Dan Evans, who on that weekend took first place.

Over the next few weeks, Tejvan will be riding more hill climbs in the build up to the 2015 national hill climb championship on Jackson Bridge.

Tejvan organises short-distance running and cycling races for the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team in his home city of Oxford. He is also a very good cyclist, having won the National hill climb championships in 2013 and finished 3rd in the National 100 Mile Time Trials in 2014.

"Ashprihanal Aalto,44, from Helsinki Finland won the 19th Annual Self-Transcendence Race in 40 days+09:06:21, taking 23 hours,10 minutes off the record held by German legend Madhupran Wolfgang Schwerk. Mr. Aalto averaged 76.776 miles per day (123.559 km).

After he crossed the line he was serenaded with songs, showered with flowers and gifts, congratulated by his fellow runners, and whisked around the course on a specially decorated float proclaiming his ascedency to the top of super-long distance running. The modest, but confident runner used two summers of mountain climbing and altitude training, combined with excellent running races and years of experience to achieve the summit of his running career. He remarked his joy and gratitude to all present, and dedicated his run to his late teacher, Sri Chinmoy, who encouraged him to always set new goals, believe in himself, and have faith in God.

Mr Aalto plans to climb more mountains next year. Indeed, he has reached the summit of running long distance running"

The British Time trial championship was held Thursday 26th June at Cadwell Motor Park, Lincolnshire.

Winner of event - Alex Dowsett (Movistar)

On the start sheet were some of the top names in British Cycling including Alex Dowsett, Geraint Thomas and Steve Cummings - though last year's winner Sir Bradley Wiggins was absent. It was a race which had mix of full time professionals and domestic amateurs. The riders took a challenging 28.7 mile circuit which included a lap of the motor racing circuit and three laps on closed roads.

With a couple of big names not starting, Tejvan Pettinger of Sri Chinmoy Cycling Team finished in 7th place with a time of 1.06.07. This was his highest position in the British Time Trial Championship. The men's elite UCI race was won by former world hour record holder - Alex Dowsett (Movistar)

Tejvan said of the event:

"It was a great event. It is quite a change to ride on closed roads and a motor racing circuit. The race itself went quite well. There were one or two short hills, which were good for me, but it was quite a balanced course with a mixture of terrain and quite a few sharp corners towards the end. I was pleased to get in the top 10."

Earlier in the week (Sun), Tejvan won the ECCA 100 mile time trial in a time of 3.41. The previous week he also won the Paul Bennett memorial 25 mile TT organised by Hemel Hempstead.

Tejvan Pettinger, of Sri Chinmoy Cycling Team, set a new record time for Shap Fell hill climb (organised by Kent Valley R.C), near Kendal, Lake District, UK. He covered the seven mile hill, in a time of 16.36, breaking his own record from the previous year. The climb, which averages just under 3%, was done at an average speed of 25mph (40km/h)

Since winning the Kent Valley RC hill climb, Tejvan has also achieved three consecutive second places.

On May 10th, He came second in the Charlotteville CC 50 mile TT in a time of 1.43.59 (average 28.9mph) He finished 2nd behind Best British all rounder Adam Topham (High Wycombe CC)

This weekend, Tejvan did two 10 mile time trials, finishing 2nd on both occasions, but managing to ride at 30mph in both races.

Seven members of Sri Chinmoy Cycling Team took part in the 21st Belgrade Triathlon (half-Ironman distance: 1.9km swimming + 90 km cycling + 21 km running).

On June 14, 2015, six members of Sri Chinmoy Cycling Team participated in the MTB Marathon, the largest mountain-bike race in Macedonia, that was held in the national park Mavrovo. They cycled 93km in the mountains with over 2000m elevation change during the race. Ekalabhya Bozhinov took the 9th place and Bojan Mitrovski took the 10th place. Congratulations!

On Sunday, 28 June 2015, 13 cyclists from Vienna, Austria, organized themselves for a Joy Ride. They cycled together a 88 km round through beautiful nature. See below the photo we received from Mananyu Siffert.

Ekalabhya Bozhinov sent us the following photo of his cycling adventure with another four Macedonian cyclists. They cycled around Ohrid Lake through Macedonia and Albania, climbed a 2600 m high mountain and did total of 160 km in two days (6/7 June 2015).

Ilvaka Nemcova and Tirtha Voelckner organized for themselves a Bayern cycling tour. They crossed 345km in 3 days and immensely enjoyed their journey through the beautiful landscapes of Bavaria, Germany.

Dr. Aklanta Raabe from Mannheim, Germany enjoys mountain bike racing. In June he did only a few hundred kilometers of distance, therefore more than 6000 m of elevation.

Elke Sobotta was cycling every day between Huefingen and Donaueschingen in Germany. Donaueschingen is the source of the great river Danube that connects so many European countries.

Recently, I visited the Pyrenees to take in some climbs, such as the Col du Tourmalet. The visit co-incided with the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run travelling from Portugal to Spain and across the Pyrenees. Last Saturday, members of the Peace Run ran up the last half of the Tourmalet; I fortuitously managed to arrive at the top of the great mountain at a similar time.

At the top of the Tourmalet, the weather was highly variable. At the start of the day, the road over the Tormalet was closed, but with good fortune the gendarmes opened the road - just a few minutes before the runners appeared. The weather included fog, sun and cloud - all in the space of a few minutes.

It was my first visit to the Pyrenees, and the first ascent of the Tourmalet (19km at 7% average). It took just over an hour and was a memorable experience. An epic climb - unrelenting and very long. It's a real challenge to keep a decent pace all the way up. It was great to arrive at the top in a similar time to the Peace Runners (who took photos). It was a special moment to get to the top, with the sun coming out. The descent was cold and tricky - but a lot easier than running downhill!"

The Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run is a global initative to promote peace and harmony through running in different countries - offering people the chance to participate and take part in this run for peace.

In this year's edition of the Beacon R.C. Mountain Time Trial, Tejvan Pettinger of Sri Chinmoy Cycling Team finished in 3rd place - behind current 25 and 50 mile TT champion Matt Bottrill (Drag 2 Zero). The Beacon TT was the third event in the national CTT 'Classic Time Trial series' and attracted a strong field of 150 riders. The race was 39 miles long, with a rolling first lap, followed by a second lap with a couple of major climbs.

It was Pettinger's first race for a month, since winning the Hemel Hempstead hilly 22 mile TT in March. Pettinger has been in New York for a couple of weeks. Pettinger was pleased with result.

"Bottrill is in excellent form, setting a new course record. I lost too much time on the flat, but did relatively better on the hilly second lap. Hopefully, the form will continue to improve for the national championships later this summer. It was a great race with lots of fast descents and tough hills."

In the opening round of the national RTTC classic time trial series, Tejvan Pettinger (Sri Chinmoy CT) finished 3rd. It was a good result for Tejvan, who has benefitted from a period of good early season form. This event, run by Stafford R.C. was over a 22 mile rolling course in Staffordshire. Pettinger completed the distance in 47.39 - behind National Champion Matthew Bottrill (Drag2Zero) and 2nd place Joshua Williams - Revolutions Racing.

The Classic series is over six national events, with best results from four. In two weeks time, Pettinger will be riding the hilly Buxton Mountain Time Trial.

Tejvan Pettinger (Sri Chinmoy Cycling Team) had a record breaking weekend in Yorkshire, winning two races, and setting two course records.

On Saturday, he raced the Circuit of Ingleborough classic around Ingleton and Settle - organised by Nelson Wheelers CC. The 27 mile race includes 610m of climbing and some fast descents. Tejvan finished in a time of 1.00.52 an average speed of 26mph. The time broke the 18 year old course record previously set by Gethin Butler. Tejvan was two and a half minuters faster than second place Simon Bridges of Manchester Wheelers.

The next day, on Sunday, Tejvan rode a 10 mile hilly time trial, organised by Ilkley CC. In this race, he finished 1st place in a time of 23.50 - just five seconds ahead of Henry King (Ilkley CC), but good enough for a second course record in two days.

Tejvan Pettinger of Sri Chinmoy Cycling Team finished 4th in the 2014 UK national hill climb championship. The defending champion, narrowly missed out on a podium spot, finishing in 3.32 - just 8 seconds behind this year's winner Dan Evans 3.24 (Team Elite)

Tejvan has riden 16 hill climbs this year, and won 13. This year's championship was on Pea Royd Lane. A steep hill in Stocksbridge, Yorkshire - 1200 yards at an average gradient of 12%. The short distance is not Tejvan's forte, unlike last year's longer hill on the Stang. But, the Sri Chinmoy CT rider was happy with his performance.

"I felt it was a good ride, I gave it everything and it all passed in a blur. I don't think I could have gone any faster so was happy with the ride."

Supporting Tejvan at the hill climb championship were fellow Sri Chinmoy Cycling Team members, Vilas Silverton, Adam Thornton, David Hall and Devashishu Torpy.

Tejvan Pettinger of Sri Chinmoy Cycling Team, won the Bristol South CC hill climb on Burrington Combe for the fifth time. First riding the event in 2004, he has frequently been back to Burrington Combe to race up the 2 mile hill to the south of Bristol. This year, he set the fastest time with a 6.57. 2nd place was Ben Davis (BH Solidor) 7.48, Joe Norledge (Procycling Magazine) was third. Julie Marazzi (Somer Valley CC) was quickest woman up the climb.

It was the final hill climb before next week's national hill climb at Pea Royd Lane in Stocksbridge.

Tejvan Pettinger of Sri Chinmoy Cycling Team has got his hill climb season off to a good start. The reigning national champion has been enjoying wearing the national jersey and has taken a string of 1st places and new course records.

This weekend, he won both Kingston Wheelers CC hill Climb on Leith Hill 3.27 (new Course Record). The next day, he set another new course record at Walbury Hill, promoted by Newbury R.C.

On the 21st September, Tejvan won the Tanks Direct Porlock hill climb, promoted by Minehead CC.

Tejvan Pettinger has made a good start to the hill climb season. The Sri Chinmoy CT rider is the current national champion and so far he has won four uphill races, setting two course records as well.

Recently, he finished 1st in the Glossop Kinder Velo Hill climb up Snake Pass - in a time of 11.51

On September 7th, Tejvan won the Buxton CC hill climb, run up Long Hill. Pettinger placed first in a time of 12.16 - taking 10 seconds off his course record from 2010. He climbed the 4.4 mile Long Hill (average gradient 3%) at an average speed of 21.9mph

Tejvan Pettinger of Sri Chinmoy Cycling Team finished 3rd in the UK national 100 mile time trial championship. He completed the 100 miles in 3.51 - behind winner Charles Taylor of South Pennine CC and Adam Topham (High Wycombe CC) in 2nd.

The National championships were held on undulating rural roads in Norfolk. Tejvan went through 50 miles in 1.51.55. But, struggled in the last 30 miles, running out of power. He also punctured with 5 miles to go, making it a slow finish on a deflating front tub. However, Tejvan just managed to hang onto 3rd place, 20 seconds ahead of Michael Broadwidth (Arctic Shorter Rochford).

Tejvan said of the race:

"I was pleased to get a medal, as I've been targetting the 100 mile championship this year. It's not my forte because it's mostly flat, but I've enjoyed doing 100 mile races this year. However, this race was the toughest 100 mile race of the year, I was really shattered at the finish."

Tejvan has had a good season so far this year, finishing 4th in the national 50 mile TT and setting a new pb of 3.34.17 at 100 miles.

Tejvan Pettinger of Sri Chinmoy Cycling Team has won the 2013 UK national hill climb championship. He covered the 2.3 mile Stang hill climb in North Yorkshire in a time of 7.57, just 2 seconds faster than 2nd place James Gullen of Team Hope Victory Factory. It was Tejvan's 9th national hill climb championship, his previous best was 4th in 2010. But, this year he was able to get to the top spot on the podium.

After the event, Tejvan said he was very happy to win and grateful everything came together for this year's championship. Tejvan has been in great form in the past few years, winning 12 races out of 13 and setting 7 course records this season alone. However, the national hill climb championship is always hotly contested with some of the top road riders in the UK entering. But, this year the hill climb specialist from Oxford was able to win at his 9th attempt.
